Just to update all of you. When Hadi, Sze Ping, Yung Zhen and Josephine went for the audition at the Republic Poly, the judges were amazed at their playing. The judges commented that they played very well and they never expected that to come from primary school guitarists. I take that as a compliment and a milestone for us all.
By the way, here's a picture (below) that Jasmine Yee (our section leader) drew. I think it's beautiful so I thought I'll share it with you all... Feel free to drop her comments to encourage her in her artistic talents.
Mr Hadi, Sze Ping, Yung Zhen and Josephine will be going for the Music Marathon audition at Republic Polytechnic this coming Monday. If successful, they will represent the Fuchun Guitar Ensemble for the performance on 8th March 2008 at Republic Polytechnic. It's a milestone in the club's history cause this is going to be our first public performance!!! Yeaaah!!!!
Wish them well on the dashboard and in person!! They'll need all the love and encouragement!!
I stumbled upon this mysterious and marvellous way of making music. It's called throat singing, a technique which originated from Central Asia (I think). The person is able to make two different sounds at the same time using his throat. Whoaaa...
The first time I came across this was when I was watching this Japanese Swordfighting Fantasy movie called "Dororo". Below is this segment of the movie where the background music is done by throat singers called Huun Huur Tu.
Cool huh? If you think that's cool, check this guys out.
Nobody in my 27 years of life told me anything about throat singing.... The more you learn, the less you realise you know... Amazing....
This blog was created for the purpose of archiving the beautiful moments and achievements of the Fuchun Guitar Ensemble. It also serves as a platform for all ex and current Fuchunian guitarists to keep in touch. All Fuchun students and members of the public are welcome here too.
